As you enter the cottage through the welcoming coastal blue door, the slate floored lobby and boot room leads you into the main house.
This charming room comprises two reputable cream sofas, a wood burner, TV with Freeview and CD Player. Everything you need to help you switch off, relax and unwind after your day of adventure.
The bright, clean and well-equipped Kitchen includes all of the usual appliances you would expect and has the added benefit of a large dining table with seating for four - allowing for long, lingering suppers, whilst you talk about the day that has gone and make plans for the day ahead. Off the kitchen are stairs leading to:
Cozy and comfortable, the master bedroom comprises a high quality king size bed that is fitted with a high standard of bedding and bedside tables with reading lamps – if you can stay awake long enough to read that is!
Also designed with comfort in mind, the second bedroom comprises a high quality king size bed that is fitted with a high standard of bedding, that has a zip and link feature, that can be made into two twin beds if required.
Beautifully appointed, with luxurious and soft towels, the bathroom is well equipped with a power shower situated over a good sized bath that is perfect for soaking away any tired and well used muscles.
To the outside of the cottage there is an enclosed garden that features a lovely terrace that wraps along the front of the house.
This is a wonderful place to sit and relax and our guests are welcome to make the most of the garden furniture provided and reflect on the day’s activities.
There is also the added benefit of a barbeque, so you can enjoy dining alfresco.

Another lovely stay at Rowan Cottage, fantastic weather! Great walks and some super seafood in local restaurants.
I think this may be the best cottage we’ve ever stayed in – practically perfect! Highly recommend the little walking book ‘Wester Ross & Lochalsh – 40 Coastal Walks’ (Paul and Helen Webster). This is brilliant for a range of shorter and longer walks around Applecross & Torridon. I love the Walled Garden at Applecross, which was in full and glorious bloom this week and I can recommend the Potting Shed Cafe for lunch and dinner. Wish we were staying another week.
Unusually I left the choice of our holiday destination solely to my wife and boy did she pick a cracker. This cottage is very special and all who stay here will surely be rewarded with a wonderful break away from life’s hurried pace, regardless of rain or shine. The cottage is very well equipped with everything that you could need and more.
We returned four years after our first visit sure that it would be books, rain, cooking and short ventures in blustery weather, but we’ve had absolutely glorious wall to wall sunshine and the most amazing temperatures. All the usual haunts of everyone else didn’t disappoint and our walk up to Coire Mhic Fhearchair was absolutely incredible. Cottage still great and garden much improved – sure we’ll be back again.
What a lovely, comfortable cottage, we so enjoyed our stay. We recommend eating at Diabaig and looking out for Eagles. The smoked fish (and cheese) at Applecross Smokehouse is memorable. Please support Nanny’s (the best coffee around), The Potting Shed and the wonderful restaurant at Diabaig. Lots of wonderful walks. We hope to come again.
