Nestled amongst an area of outstanding natural beauty, Rowan Cottage provides the most stunning, uninterrupted views across the Applecross Peninsula on Scotland’s spectacular West coast.
With the cottage being so remote you will instantly begin to unwind. In the mornings you will awaken to the sound of birds and sheep rather than traffic, and at night the sky will be lit up by stars rather than streetlights.
For those who embrace outdoor pursuits there is so much to see and do during your stay. You, your friends and family can be at one with nature, walking or cycling amongst the Torridon Hills, mountaineering or sea kayaking and for the keen fisherman you can cast your line by sea or loch.
And for those looking for a charming bolthole, Rowan Cottage is a feast for the senses, as it also offers the perfect setting for anyone looking to rest, re-group and just be - spending your days painting, reading and relaxing.
Situated between the charming townships of Sheildaig and Applecross each just 15 minutes away by car, you can immerse yourself in local culture and events, sample award winning cuisine or, if you haven’t brought your own provisions, stock up on the bare essentials for a restful night in, before exploring the vast outdoors all over again the next day.
What a wonderful holiday – a little gem of a cottage in splendid surroundings. Would recommend Torridon Stores & Cafe, Applecross Pub (ate there 3 times), Torridon Inn, and the Walled Garden at Applecross. A must is the mountain pass from Applecross to Locharron. The smoked salmon from the Shieldaig Smokehouse is delicious, wonderful beach at Sand, cosy and perfect for relaxing. Thank you very much!
You found the best location in the west! What an amazing cottage in the most perfect location. We had a great time with our 5 year old – first two days were very sunny, we were glad to visit Applecross and Sand and take in the amazing scenery. Applecross Inn is a must, the food is delicious, with seats found in a flash and fast service with a smile. The highlight for me has to be the walk from Applecross to Sand Beach – amazing views. The cottage is the most comfortable ever – nothing coul… Read more
Another lovely stay at Rowan Cottage, fantastic weather! Great walks and some super seafood in local restaurants.
I think this may be the best cottage we’ve ever stayed in – practically perfect! Highly recommend the little walking book ‘Wester Ross & Lochalsh – 40 Coastal Walks’ (Paul and Helen Webster). This is brilliant for a range of shorter and longer walks around Applecross & Torridon. I love the Walled Garden at Applecross, which was in full and glorious bloom this week and I can recommend the Potting Shed Cafe for lunch and dinner. Wish we were staying another week.
Thanks for the use of your cottage, we found it very cosy!! We had a wonderful time, it’s an absolutely beautiful area. We could so easily live here!
